    An analogue slide tour through: art practice as social responsibility? The artist as scientist? The artist as researcher? The artist as anthropologist? The artist as curator?
    Changing artistic and curatorial strategies in Berlin and Tehran.

    Hamid Severi is an art historian and curator of photography and video art. He is head of the research department at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. He teaches Art History, Art Criticism and Introduction to Contemporary Art courses for undergraduate and graduate levels at the Tehran University, University of Art, Azad Islamic University and Aria Gallery since 1997. He has curated several photography and video art exhibitions in Iran and abroad.

    Wolfgang Knapp studied art and visual communications, educational science, sociology and psychology. Artistic projects with cultural/social minorities (prisons, psychiatry, handicapped centres), as well as project exhibitions; Since 1988 teaching at the University of Arts Berlin at the Institute of Art in Context / Faculty Fine Arts (Postgraduate Program for Artists, Designers, Architects), Curating interdisciplinary research and exhibition projects within international collaborations

    2/5 BZ aka Serhat Köksal will play his audiovisual performance ‘ NO Gasionalism NO Pipeline Bridge NO Exotic ‘, which investigates cultural clichés and their effects on the economic and political situation of individuals “with sound art and no exotic planetcore visuals - against the wall and against the bridge in there.” Serhat Köksal lives and works in Istanbul.

    In the light of the major electronic changes that have occurred during the last 20 years, experimental video is proving itself to be a major contributor to the visual and cultural arena in the Middle East. Remarkable freelancers and independent Middle Eastern video makers are constructing their own rules of engagement and shaping a new contemporary visual order in the region. In their aesthetic concerns and critical and analytical conceptual approaches, Middle Eastern video makers managed to expand our understanding of the production of video and experimental documentary from the Middle East and to some extend influence the broadcast media.

    Khaled Ramadan was born in 1964 in Beirut and has lived and worked in Denmark and in the North of Europe since 1985. He is a curator, lecturer and a visual artist and founded the Chamber for Immigrant Visual Studies, which tries to examine the visual aspects of migration in Denmark.
